Phosphate salt solution (PBS) with buffer properties is mainly used to wash and maintain the physiological balance of cells. The duration of keeping cells in the buffer is a few minutes and a maximum of several hours. Buffers are also used to adjust osmolarity. Phosphate salt solution with buffering properties is used in cell counting as a diluent for washing cells and as a buffer in many chromatographic processes. Phosphate salt solution (PBS) does not contain bicarbonate and is more sensitive to pH changes.
